We live in a fallen world, and we will encounter pain in this life. There is no way to avoid it. But God is the ultimate healer. Psalm 147:3 says, "He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds" (NLT).
I love this verse because God's healing is not spoken of as some mystical, impersonal form of healing. God, Himself reaches out to us and bandages up our wounds. We must never forget that our God is a personal God that desires to be an intimate part of every aspect of our lives. That includes our pain.
But how does God bring healing to our lives?
He Speaks Into Our Hearts
God transforms hearts through His incredible love for us. The Gospel has inspired millions worldwide because God's great love for us is truly unfathomable in its scope. When one is confronted with it, it changes their life completely. In Ezekiel 11:19, God says, "I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them. I will take away their stony, stubborn heart and give them a tender, responsive heart" (NLT). God performs a heart transplant within us, changing how we view ourselves, the world around us, and our role within it.
He Fills Us With Hope
There are times in life that are so trying that all we can do is rely on hope. Hope is an emotion of immense power, capable of carrying us through our most significant trials. As Christians, our hope is rooted in the Lord and His purposes for our lives. Romans 15:13 says, "I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit" (NLT). The presence of the Holy Spirit within us fills us with hope. We must embrace the power of the Holy Spirit and let Him guide our every step. When we do, we will be granted hope that will carry us through every moment.
He Leads us to Profound Relationships
One of the most beautiful things about becoming followers of Jesus is that we automatically gain a family of believers to support, encourage, and walk alongside us in life. United under our glorious Father, our brothers and sisters in Christ help draw us closer to God's healing presence. Not only that, but they are always there to pick us back up when we stumble and fall. We must never neglect the incredible gift of fellowship in our faith walk. If we do, we miss out on one of the most amazing benefits of being a Christian.
Life is challenging, and we can't do it alone. That’s why we must be so grateful to have a God that cares about us so much that He is eager to share His abundant power with us. He reaches into our lives and provides us with profound healing, the likes of which we can find nowhere else. God wants to wrap you in His powerful embrace today and ease every burden that you face. Rest in His presence today.
