How Our Witness Plants Seeds of Faith in Others

Consider for a moment how it was that you became a Christian. Was it through the inspiration of another believer? A large number of people come to faith in Jesus through the witness of others. I know that’s how it was for me. I saw the impact that their belief had on their life, and I just had to know what following Jesus was all about.

I committed to becoming a witness to the Gospel myself. One simple way I have ensured I do that every day is by the clothing I wear. I love the incredibly profound conversations I have had with others because they were moved or curious about a message I was wearing on my shirt. You’d be amazed at how these small seeds we plant in others can bloom into beautiful lives filled with abundant faith.

But how does our witness plant seeds of faith in others?

They See Our Joy

Our busy schedules wear a lot of people down, and it’s understandable why so many suffer from a lack of joy in life. But our joy is contagious! We can make it spread throughout our home, workplace, and anywhere else we go. The joy we show off because of our faith in the Lord makes people want to know what keeps our hearts this way. They want to experience this joy themselves! That opens up the opportunity for powerful conversations about Jesus. Philippians 4:4 says, “Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!” (NLT).

They See Our Hope

Not only do they see our joy, but they see our perseverance to endure the challenges we face. Through our witness, we show how God can carry us through any trial. Everyone is going through something if you know it or not, and they will desire to know where you find your strength. Tell them all about the source of your hope: salvation in Jesus. Romans 5:5 says, “Hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love” (NLT).

They See Our Love

The defining trait of a believer in Christ is love. 1 Corinthians 16:14 says, “Do everything with love” (NLT). Love must be the inspiration behind everything we do in life. In a culture where people do everything they can to get ahead, our motivations will be counter-culturally and shocking to many. They will want to know what drives us. Another opportunity arises to tell them all about the God who loves us so much that He gave everything in order to bring us salvation.

Conclusion

God calls every believer to be a witness of His abounding love. Your actions can be the catalyst that plants a radiant garden of faith in the heart of another. That faith will lead them to eternal life in Christ. This calling is both a great blessing and a great responsibility. Commit to living it out in everything you say and do!
