4 Ways to Develop a Vibrant Prayer Life

Prayer is essential to the life of a believer. Prayer is how we communicate with God, the source of our faith. Being a Christian is all about our relationship with God. If we are not speaking with Him on a daily basis, how are we supposed to grow in that beautiful relationship? A vibrant prayer life is your key to living a life saturated in God's loving presence.

Honestly evaluate your prayer life. Remember that we all have opportunities to grow! No one ever achieves perfection, but we must seek to know the Lord better each and every day.

Here are 4 ways to develop a vibrant prayer life!

Pray Regularly

The easiest way to grow in prayer is to do it consistently. Pray every day! Just like anything else, we better and more comfortable in prayer the more we do it. In 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Paul instructs us to "Never stop praying" (NLT). Strive to make your every thought throughout the day a conversation with God. Bring Him every hope, joy, sorrow, fear, dream, and goal you have, and watch how He guides you through every step of your day. It's a challenging discipline to master, but it's worth every amount of effort you put in.

Be Honest About Your Feelings

Exodus 33:11 paints a beautiful picture of the intimacy that we share with God through prayer: "The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend" (NLT). God isn't distant. He doesn't choose to be an observer of our lives. He wants to be a regular part of them! All you have to do is invite Him into your heart through prayer. To truly grow in prayer, you must hold nothing back from God. He can handle anything you have to say. Be open and vulnerable, and your relationship with Him will grow.

Don't Hesitate to Ask God for Something

In Mark 11:24, Jesus says, "I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you've received it, it will be yours" (NLT). Just as we like to give good gifts to our children, God wants to fulfill the desires of your heart. Don't hesitate to ask God for good things that are aligned with His purposes for your life. Miracles happen every day through the power of prayer. God desires to work in miraculous ways in your life as well.

Pray With Others

Praying with fellow believers is an incredible way to develop your prayer life. In Matthew 18:20, Jesus says, " For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them" (NLT). As you engage in communal prayer, Jesus' very presence is among you! Through this act of worship, Jesus will mold your heart and mind according to God’s will. He will lead the prayers of you and your brothers and sisters in the faith.

Conclusion

Prayer must be the focal point of our lives. In prayer, we encounter the living God. Those encounters with Him are transformative. They will shape our very character as children of God.  He is the author and sustainer of our lives. Will you speak with Him today?
